Alrighty… It’s week 3 of my “body reset” transformation! Not going to lie I’m really struggling this week. I’ve gained some weight and haven’t really felt a whole lot different 🙁 However… I know from past experiences that it takes about 3-weeks before things start to change. Yes, I’m gaining weight because I’m working out and building more muscle, but it’s a good thing because the muscle will start to burn the fat. I just gotta get over this hump!!!
Since I have been busting my ass working out 3-4 times a week I figured I deserved some new workout clothes! I’m all about the blush tones for workout clothes this spring! Anyone else? Maybe not blush leggings, but these color block leggings from Nordstrom are pretty darn cute. Not to mention the softest things I’ve ever worn, and only $55! I hadn’t tried the Zella leggings from Nordstrom yet but always hear people talk about how obsessed they are with them so thought I’d give them a try. Definitely a winner!! And they are super high-waisted which I love!

Okay, let’s talk about the workouts I’ve been doing lately! Typically, I try to workout during the weekdays only. I need some rest during the weekends since my workouts are so hard. And, I want to sleep in…duh. I prefer to workout in the evenings around 5pm unless it’s Friday because happy hour is usually calling my name! Here is a breakdown of my weekly workout routine:
I’ve been going to this place called Class Studios here in Dallas which is very similar to circuit training. There are 3 stations each focusing on a different area of the body. I also suggest BBG or T25 if you’re working out at home.
I workout with my personal trainer once a week which is always a full-body workout. We do a quick warm-up which includes some cardio, but most of the workout is focused on weightlifting. This is the best way for me to build muscle and burn the fat!!
I always take a day to rest and stretch my body. I usually do anything from yoga to just foam rolling!
FRIDAY: Cardio + full-body
I love HIIT workouts which most are some sort of cardio and weights or using your own body weight. I have been going to Barry’s Bootcamp which is amazing! It’s always 8-10 min on the treadmill and then 8-10 min of floor work. We repeat that twice!
I’ve found these workouts are best for my body type. I have little chicken legs and a short torso where I store all my fat (sigh). So working on building muscle is the best way for me to get rid of that pesky belly fat. I’m not trying to get big and muscular so I don’t lift super heavy weights. But believe me when I say building muscle is the best way to burn fat!!
On the days I workout I will say I’m usually in workout clothes until I get to the gym… I mean why waist a cute outfit when you can just transform your workout gear into an athleisure look? All I had to do for this outfit was swap my workout shoes for these Adidas sneakers, and throw on a denim jacket. Easy peasy! If you are new to following me, I’m a huge fan of athleisure and wear it quite a bit which you might have seen in a few of my January posts here.
I used to have a client that sold activewear so I’ve learned a lot about brands in the industry. That’s why I get the majority of my workout clothes at Nordstrom. They’ve got a huge variety of brands, and some exclusive ones too. Plus, it’s so easy to do in-store pick-up with them! I don’t ever have to mess with a crowd, and if you are in even more of a rush you can now do curbside pick-up! And, I think my Nordstrom now has same-day delivery which I need to try!!
