Happy Holidays y’all! Originally I really liked that Thanksgiving was so early this year because I wasn’t stressed about getting my Christmas home decor up until afterwards. Well… Then I started thinking and looking at a calendar and come to realize I was only really in town for 3 weeks between Thanksgiving and Christmas! Ugh I was kicking myself for not decorating before Thanksgiving this year…
Also, I decided to get a new Christmas tree so I had to wait for it to arrive. Note to self… Buy the pre-lit tree! It was totally worth it after I spent 2 hours adding lights. It looks so much better than last years skinny tree. After getting all the lights on though I was too tired to add ornaments. Honestly though… I kinda like the natural and neutral look this year!
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAY HOME DECOR
Guess what?! I get to enjoy my Christmas decor longer this year because I’m hosting Christmas at my house this year!!! I’m so excited! Can you tell? Haha. I’ve always wanted to host a big holiday, but since I’m not married and my brother is I don’t have a lot of pull when it comes to organizing the holidays. So the more I thought about it the more I wanted to host… Like, okay just because I’m not married doesn’t mean I’m not an adult and get to do adult things, right? For crying out loud, I’m 32-years old and not sure when I’ll be married so I deserve the opportunity to host in my opinion.
I wasn’t sure how it was going to go over with my parents though… Eek. I called my dad because I’m a daddy’s girl (yes still…) so I could talk to him about it first and then he could talk to my mom. Surprisingly, he was totally open to it. So I thought, “Okay this is good!”. Then I called my mom the next day and I wasn’t expecting the conversation to go as well as it did… She said she had actually mentioned coming to Dallas to my dad last night. Like wait, for real?! That was wayyyyyyyyy unexpected! Now I get to enjoy my holiday home decor all the way through Christmas!!!!
CHRISTMAS TREES AND CANDLES
Obviously the tree is the most important Christmas decoration in the house… But, I spend quite a bit of time in the kitchen and with hosting Christmas this year I’m going to get to use my dining table! I always have tablescape decor year round because I think it just looks pretty. This year I’ll be getting to utilize it twice because I’m also hosting our girls Christmas gift exchange and cookie decorating party.
