I’ve put off writing this post until the very last minute because honestly I wasn’t sure how to approach it… I’ve really loved doing these “workwear” posts and inspiring you all how elevate your workwear wardrobe. However, things look a little different lately… I’m sure there are a LOT of you who aren’t going into the office right now. And, buying new work clothes is NOT a top priority.

So let’s just get it out there… THE STRUGGLE IS REAL. ACTUALLY REAL. For a lot of us, including me, the future is a bit uncertain. As a small business owner, I feel like I’ve done a pretty good job navigating through tough times the last 10 years. This time feels a little different. I’m not extremely worried about things quite yet, but I know our economy is going to suffer for a while. That means my job is going to be very difficult to sustain at the comfortable level I’ve been used to.

A few weeks ago, I went almost completely MIA from social for a while. Why? Because I was having a HUGE internal battle with my own personal finance struggles. It didn’t have anything to do with COVID-19, but the reality of freezing my eggs and spending $10-$12k when I was still in almost that much debt got to me. Honestly, to the point I was crying in the shower just thinking I was a complete fraud and failure.

The Struggle is REAL for Small Business Owners during COVID-19

Okay I know I’m NOT either of those and have built a very successful business as a blogger and digital marketing consultant. A part of me hasn’t felt fulfilled though in a while… Last year, I feel like I wanted to accomplish so many things with both blogging and consulting but nothing got done. I encountered a lot of hiccups, and decided just to run away from the problems instead of dealing with them like a grown up.

Guess what? That caught up to me big time at the beginning of the year. I finally had to have a legitimate “come to Jesus” meeting with myself. I took a deep deep deep dive into my finances and realized I have a problem with spending money. I’m not super irresponsible considering I did buy a house… Although, right now I may not be able to afford my house much longer.

It’s more like, when things are good I just kinda think, “oh whatever I can afford that”. Well, that mentality is why I have no savings or a retirement account right now. And now we are most likely going into a recession. Awesome. Guess that’s part of the BIG wakeup call God started giving me at the beginning of this month.

So, what’s the point of this blog post? Mainly just to say I am right there with you and seriously know how much the struggle is real right now.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE… Small business owners will get through this difficult time. If there is one thing I’ve learned about my work ethic the last 10 years it’s that I will HUSTLE my ass off to do whatever it takes to continue to be a female entrepreneur. SO… that being said, I want to HELP YOU.

Starting on April 1st, I’m going to be offering mini consulting sessions for $50!! Plus, I’ll be doing some really fun IGTV/IG LIVE segments on all things small business.

Lastly, don’t lose hope!! You may feel defeated or worried about losing your job, but in the end you will be on the other side of this soon. That’s why we all need a cute workwear outfit to lift our spirits once we are back in the office. Nothing makes you feel more empowered and good about yourself than when you look good! These cute plaid pants from Banana Republic would be perfect to transition your wardrobe into spring.

After a lot of us working from home now maybe the “office dress code” could even get a little more lax? Just a thought because I really like these pants with a simple basic white t-shirt! I feel like it brings the outfit to a more “chic casual” outfit. Maybe this “work from home” thing will even reinvent the the modern way people work making it easier for you to combine your workwear wardrobe with your regular wardrobe!

It’s possible so keep up the positive thoughts!!!

*Thanks Banana Republic for sponsoring this post. All opinions and comments are my own.

  1. If I had the money, or even went in debt for it, I’d have loved to frozen my eggs. I imagine you won’t regret that decision! Xoxo
