I feel like this post should have been done a long time ago… But, it’s here now! A few years ago, I was talking with my good group of girlfriends about the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale telling them how it’s the best time to buy jeans. There are 6 of us in our core friend group and we are almost all different body types. Clearly, I’m shorter with long skinny legs and no hips or butt. They always love the jeans I wear, but only one friend in our group is the same body type as me. So they all had an idea… Why not do a blog post with them featuring denim jeans for different body types?!
What a genius idea! I’m so appreciative that they make me think outside the box and are such supportive friends. However, trying to coordinate 6 women with work schedules to get photos taken was a bit of a challenge. Then the other day when Rhonda and I were in the dressing room trying things on from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale it clicked… Why not do the post with her?! We are literally the exact opposite body types!
ME: 5′ 4″ / no hips or butt / long legs
RHONDA: 5′ 9″ / tiny waist and curvy hips / long torso
We decided to break things down into three different denim categories and share which brands we love and for what reasons. I typically stick with 3-4 of the same denim brands because I know they will always fit my body type. Also, I typically have to buy designer denim which are jeans over $100 because I wear jeans so much I need them to last. Just another reason to buy them on the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

DARK DENIM JEANS
BROOKE: Frame Denim and Rag & Bone
If I had to choose a denim brand that I could only wear for the rest of my life it would be one of these two brands. I discovered Frame denim about 5 years ago and swear by them now. Their super skinny jean is absolutely perfect for ladies like me who have extremely little legs. And because they are longer they accentuate my legs making me look much taller!
If I’m wearing mine with an ankle strap sandal then I roll the bottoms under about an inch because they are a little long in the length. But, the length is great when you are wearing a regular pump. Also, especially great for when you are wearing over the knee boots with jeans because not a lot of fabric that gets bunched up in the boot!!
RHONDA: Madewell
They have really stepped up their game with their jean selection. She really loves them because they are a thicker denim which “holds things in” in her opinion. I definitely get that since I carry all of my weight in my stomach! However, they are usually too tight for me because of that reason and don’t have a lot of give. So if you have a smaller waist like Rhonda these are a great option, and budget friendly!

SKINNY JEANS
BROOKE: AG denim and Frame (again)
These raw hem ankle jeans are my everyday “go-to” jeans. They are the perfect length which is why I love AG so much. I don’t have to worry about getting them hemmed ever. They also have good stretch, but don’t stretch out too much in the waist. Great premium denim brand too that isn’t super crazy expensive and quality is really good!
Rag & Bone – Another favorite “go-to” everyday denim! I love this brand because they are the softest denim that doesn’t stretch out too much. If you don’t have a butt like me then go down a size because they will stretch a bit, but stay tight in the waist.
RHONDA: Paige denim
They’ve been a long time favorite of hers because they are flattering on the bootie! Never have to get them hemmed and good length in the torso which accentuates her small waist.

STRAIGHT LEG JEANS
BROOKE: BlankNYC and Mother Denim
BlankNYC is a newer denim brand I’ve been wearing for the last couple of years. They have the BEST straight wide leg jeans for us shorter gals. They are the only ones I’ve found whose wide leg denim isn’t TOO wide making me look super wide. And they have a bit of stretch, but not a ton. Plus, the price point for these jeans that you may not wear everyday is perfect.
RHONDA: Good American and KUT from the Kloth
Rhonda and two of my other friends who have bigger hips swear by these brands. I tried these last year on the sale, but I should’ve know these wouldn’t work for me considering the designer is Khloe Kardashian, haha. She loves this brand because they are extremely soft and stretch in all the right places. Also, they are high rise and don’t have the awkward gap in the back for women with a bigger butt.

Hopefully this post was a bit helpful if you struggle with finding the best pair of jeans for your body type! There are a few other brands we both wear from time-to-time, but we both tend to go back to these brands over-and-over. I’m definitely a jean girl if you haven’t noticed… You can read more about my favorite skinny jeans here! And NORDSTROM ANNIVERSARY SALE.

Such a great post! Jeans are so hard to find for me too. I am a ruler and love a lot of stretch in jeans. I have heard of AG and need to try this out. I have tried Blank NYC but they don’t fit me right!
