We’ve had some gloomy weather over the weekend, and it’s kinda reminding me of my trip to the Oregon Coast this summer. I honestly had no expectations for this trip except enjoying cooler weather while everyone in Dallas was dying of 100 degree heat. Well…my expectations were definitely exceeded!! This blogger getaway to Headlands Lodge will be one for the books.
This little town of Pacific City, Oregon is about 2 hours west of Portland. I don’t think there is anywhere closer to fly into, but I’m telling you the drive out there was to die for because it was so beautiful. We honestly felt like we were in a car commercial, haha. Also, I’m happy we drove because we were able to stop in the Oregon wine country along the way. But, we were driving so we only stopped at Stoller Winery. The owners are actually from Oklahoma! They definitely had the right idea moving up here and out of OK!
First off, let’s just talk about the view at Headlands Lodge. You have the beach to one side and desert looking sand dunes to the left. Everything about the resort was so welcoming from the complimentary glass of wine when you arrive to s’mores on the beach to taking a bike out for a stroll down the street. Seriously this place is the perfect quiet getaway filled with adventure.
We couldn’t have asked for better weather either. The entire time it was about 60-65 degrees! Perfect for sweaters in the early morning to walk and get coffee and then snuggle up by the fire at night. The days got a little warmer, but nothing unbearable for horseback riding on the beach or hiking up the sand dunes. Ummmmm btw… Can you believe the view from the top of the sand dune?!

TOP 10 MUST DO THINGS AT HEADLANDS LODGE
S’mores!! Private campfire on the beach was the BEST!
Horseback riding down the beach
Hike up the Cape Kiwanda sand dune (we went to the left of the big hill and snuck up a trail to see the views above!)
Take bikes to breakfast
Have a drink at the brewery next door
Take a drive through the forest
Visit a winery on the way out
Take a breather at the spa
Kayak or surf
Take a stroll through the neighborhoods
Pacific City is quite small which is nice because it doesn’t make it feel touristy. You kinda feel like a local walking around town. I thought about going surfing (which clearly only the locals were doing) but once I felt how cold that water was my mind quickly changed! I’m adventurous but not that adventurous…
Even though we only had about 48-hours on the Oregon Coast I feel like we did SO much! I was happy we went up to Seattle too, but next time I’ll be spending at least a week up here. It was the most relaxing 2 days for sure!
Great post! This looks gorgeous! My best friend and I want to take a gal’s trips up there and go hiking. Watching this makes me even more excited!
