LBD for Spring
Wow…I can’t believe it’s already been a year since I truly started the blog. One Small Blonde started out as a personal creative outlet just like so many other blogs. Sharing my personal style with others has always been something I love doing, but after a hard breakup this time last year it wasn’t what I was focused on or truly even cared about. I was in a rut. I needed something exciting to get me out of the terrible “why did this happen to me” phase (know what I mean?). If you’ve seen Legally Blonde just imagine that first scene where she gets dumped, and if you haven’t seen that movie go watch it…now. It’s my absolute favorite movie!
Even though I loved my real life job I knew it wasn’t going to do the trick at the time because it was still “work” not fun. Don’t get me wrong…running my own company over the last 5 years has been incredible and fun majority of the time. However, I needed something else to get that creative fire going again. I’d had a few brands reach out to me about collaborating with them, and that’s basically when I had my “screw being sad” moment and went full speed ahead with the blog. 🙂 My friends and family know that whenever I put my mind to something it’s usually 0 to 100% in a matter of days…and now looking at where I am today truly gives me an overwhelming feeling of happiness and accomplishment.
Today, I was reunited with that same feeling about my real job. I started my own social media marketing company almost a year after I graduated college. I won’t lie…I had no idea what I was doing except I knew I was good at helping businesses manage their Facebook business page. Fast forward a few years, and now I’m operating a full service digital marketing agency called Muse Media. Not only do we help clients manage their social media marketing, we build websites, develop branding materials, and much more. While I was in a consulting meeting today with a new client I remembered why I love what I do, and how much I love helping other small businesses succeed just like I’ve done. Even if you’re thinking about starting a blog of your own, or building the next Instagram platform I’d love to work with you!
{Life Lesson} There will be up’s and down’s, and really really crappy parts of life. Find something you love doing, put your whole heart in it, and take control of your happiness!!
