I swear once October hits I feel like the rest of the year flies by SO fast… I can’t believe Thanksgiving is a few weeks away! If I’m being honest, I’m so ready for 2017 to be over. I haven’t had the best year, and I’m praying things will be a lot different in 2018.

Don’t get me wrong… This year has been fantastic with the blog. But, blogging is a 24/7 job… I told myself I was going to take a few days off after my birthday. No social media or anything with the blog so I could mentally recharge. Basically, I needed to use my “personal days”, but unfortunately that didn’t happen so I took a “mini” break last week.

So how do you take a step back and destress from such a demanding job? Well… Sometimes you kinda just have to say screw it! Since I’ve been an entrepreneur for almost 8 years now I’ve realized it’s not worth it to constantly stress yourself out over every little thing. I’m still very guilty of doing that sometimes… Like making sure my Instagram grid always looks consistent. I can’t tell you how much time I spend moving photos around in Planoly making sure there is a cohesive pattern.

Yes, my job is almost 100% sales so posting an #ootd picture is pretty important. However, there have been days when I don’t get an Instagram post up and it’s not the end of the world. Actually, every single time I haven’t posted one day I’ve felt completely fine. Life moves on people… And instead of being so stressed out and frantically trying to post something I’ve learned to sit back and say “Brooke, chill out!”. Knowing my Enneagram Number now has definitely made doing that easier and helped my stress levels.

That’s why last week I did the bare minimum of what I needed to do and it felt amazing! Sure maybe my engagement goes down a tiny bit when I don’t post as often, but it’s always better to put out quality content over quantity! Surprisingly, by only doing the things I absolutely needed to do (like an Instagram post) I ended up getting ahead of my workload for this week. That rarely happens!

Whatever your day-to-day job might be please remember it’s okay to give yourself a break! If you can’t take care of yourself first, then you’re not going to be able to fully take care of anything else around you!

  1. Yes! Love this post! I’m a true believer in having a balanced, yet quality worthy life. It’s not worth to constantly work and never truly live. I want to go into blogging full time but I don’t know if it’s worth the constant work and no life.

  2. So glad to hear you took some ‘me’ time. It’s always important to take a step back and take a break. I’m sorry to hear you haven’t had the best 2017, just stay positive, 2018 will be here before you know it. As always you look lovely in every one of these outfits!
