BROKEN BOW
I’m an Oklahoma girl, but somehow I’d never been to Broken Bow. Honestly, I’d never heard of it until a few years ago. I grew up on the lake so no idea how I missed out on this amazing place all my life! I had seen a friend post about this gorgeous new Airbnb a couple of months ago and knew I had to visit. My time up in Broken Bow at Cabin California Dreaming was absolutely the BEST way to unplug from reality right now.
I’ve never taken a full week off of work in 10 years so I’m sure you can imagine how much this getaway was needed… Spending time in the woods and mother nature was absolutely perfect. It took me back to my childhood growing up on the lake and going on road trips to Colorado with my family. I’ve needed to get back to my roots and do a little self care. It was so nice not to have worry in the world on our trip!

WHERE IS BROKEN BOW
Broken Bow is in the southeast corner of Oklahoma right on the edge of Arkansas. It took us about 3 hours to drive from Dallas which wasn’t bad at all! It also sits right on Beavers Bend State Park. The Cabin California Dreaming is located up in the hills about 15 minutes from all the hiking trails and Broken Bow lake.

WHAT TO DO
The biggest attraction and why a lot of people visit is because of the lake. You can rent a boat, go fishing, kayaking, etc. However, like I mentioned earlier it is next to Beavers Bend State Park so there are TONS of hiking trails too. Truly legit hiking trails! We went on two hikes during our stay because it rained quite a bit. Our absolute favorite and a very popular trail is Friends Trail. It runs right along the river and there are some amazing water features.
There are a few wineries and breweries to visit after your full day of adventure. Also, there is a casino if you’re into that haha. We saw a lot of cute mom and pop boutiques and fruit/veggie stands which I always love exploring. They always have the best jams and homemade stuff.
Since it did rain almost the entire time we were there it was still fun being at the cabin playing board games and getting a “digital detox”.

I really can’t recommend this trip any more! Especially right now while we have so much uncertainty in our lives. It’s the perfect way to escape and reset!
