5 WAYS TO WEAR ANIMAL PRINT SKIRTS, brooke burnett, dallas fashion blogger, white oversized blazer

Hello Monday! Over the holidays, I went to Whistler with one of my best friends. We were catching up on work when she brought up how I pick outfits for the blog. Well, I really just go with what I like or what’s trending at the time. She loves the stuff I post, but she works in the corporate world so a lot of items I post don’t necessarily seem “work appropriate”. A lot of the items could be “work appropriate” if you styled them the right way though. That’s when she mentioned she would love to see more posts about how to style basic work pieces in different ways… Hmmm… She made a good point.

I guess I’ve never thought about how I style everyday items in my closet because it just seems natural to me. I may wear it this way one day, but then why not try it another way the next. She challenged me to come over to her house and use her clothes to style a bunch of her stuff in her closet. Challenge accepted!!

BUT, it also made me think I should start a “work wear” styling series! So today is the first post! When I was at the mall last week, all I saw was animal print everything. Seriously everywhere. When I saw this snakeskin midi skirt I thought, “okay this is a good challenge!”. P.S. It’s only $35!!

Okay, I immediately knew the color palette for this skirt was going to be a lot of neutrals. But no just black! No no that’s too easy. Since we are right in the middle of winter my first outfit idea was pairing the skirt with a white turtleneck sweater. You can completely tuck it in or do the half tuck in the front. If it’s “casual Friday” at the office I think it’s so cute with sneakers!

Once again, even though we are in the winter months that does NOT mean you cannot wear a white blazer. I absolutely love the winter white look that a lot of people are doing these days. This animal print skirt with the white blazer is actually my favorite of the 5 looks!

And then of course we have black 🙂 Black just goes with everything and looks good on everyone. Duh. Even if you’re wearing a simple black blouse you could add a belt with to this outfit without it being too over the top. Or, how about a black leather jacket? I’m sure we all have a black jacket in our closets! However, try something cropped since this skirt is high waisted.

That’s all I’ve got for the first “work wear” series post! Which outfit is your favorite? And, which outfit would you most likely wear??

I’ll be doing this once a month so I’d love to know what else you would like to see styled?!
