Beauty Tips at Blushington

blushington dallasblushington dallasblushington dallasblushington dallasblushington dallasblushington dallas blushington dallasLast week I attended a Makeup 101 class with Blushington and Circle Seven Five here in Dallas. I must say I was quite surprised how many tips and tricks I picked up! Apparently I’ve been doing quite a few things wrong (not surprised). I don’t wear a ton of make up to begin with because my skin is super oily.

Tip 1: if you have oily skin don’t wear products with a lot of sparkle or shimmer. It actually brings out more oil in the skin. Looks like I need to switch out a few products like my bronzer which is why I picked up this Girlactik matte bronzer.

Tip 2:  When applying bronzer apply from the hairline down to your cheek. Just started applying this tip over the weekend and it looks way better. I was applying bronzer to the apples of my cheeks so no wonder it looked so intense. Also, apply the left over loose powder up and around your hairline on your forehead.

Tip 3: Smile when you apply your blush that way you can see exactly where to apply (usually the apple of your cheek).

Last, if you are like me and don’t like putting on a full face of make up here are 5 products to use every day: face primer (the one I picked up from Stila is awesome and good for oily or dry skin types), mascara, bronzer, eyeliner, and lip gloss.

Beauty Buy: Stressed Out

stress relief lotions and bath saltsLately I’ve been a little stressed out… When work gets busy sometimes it’s hard for me to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I’m a typical female and store all of my stress and tension in my neck and shoulders. Plus working at a computer all day isn’t the best. I try to relieve my stress at the end of the day with a yoga class or short work out. At night I love taking baths with these Aveda stress-fix soaking salts. The lavender aroma is wonderful and I could fall asleep in the bath tub if I let myself! Then right before bed I put the Aveeno stress relief lotion on my hands and neck so I smell the lavender scent while I fall asleep. Aveeno stress relief lotion Niven Morgan Lavender Mint hand lotion Aveda stress fix soaking bath salts

Beauty Buy: Freeze 24/7

freeze247Last month I went to visit my friend in LA. While I was there we went over to a friend of hers to have dinner and hang out. Many of you know I am always looking for new facial products to try out, and lucky me that night I got a few new products to try! The girl we were hanging out with works for Freeze 24/7. Once we started chatting about about our beauty routines she recommended these four products to try for my skin type.

Skin Glacé: This facial cleanser can be used as a face wash or mask. When using it as a face wash you have to run your hands together and then wait a few seconds until you start to see a white foam appear. I did it wrong the first time so don’t forget to wait! You might not think it’s getting all the makeup off, but I promise it does. I love it because it feels like silk.

IceSerum: I have some pretty bad dark spots and hyper-pigmentation so I really like this product. This serum uses an exclusive White Strawberry Extract which gives skin an immediate glow and radiance.

Eyecing: I have never used an eye cream in my life, but now I can’t go a day without using this stuff. It’s addicting. I have super oily skin too so I hate wearing anything that will make me even more oily throughout the day. I can slather this stuff on and it doesn’t feel oily at all. Plus, it’s time released so it keeps your eyes bright throughout the entire day! It’s works wonderful when you haven’t had much sleep.

SkinSmoothie: Now I love my Dr. Dennis Gross daily facial peel pads which I use when I get acne flare ups. These Freeze 24/7 facial pads are better used after those acne flare ups to combat acne scars, dark spots and hyper-pigmentation. They are pretty intense so you will definitely feel a tingling sensation when you use them, and it’s recommended you only use them twice a week.

Trust Fund Beauty

Trust Fund nail polish I am terrible when it comes to painting my nails. It looks like a 4 year old did it when I do it myself, ha. Therefore, added into my monthly budget are a few trips to the nail salon. I started getting gel manicures because they last so much longer, but then after repeated gel manicures I started to notice how brittle and thin my nails were becoming. Well after learning about Trust Fund Beauty and all of the toxic chemicals, like formaldehyde, that are in some nail polishes I wasn’t surprised my nails were so damaged.

Not only are Trust Fund Beauty nail polishes non toxic, but the names are amazing! When I first glanced through the color options I was cracking up at the names. Since I always tend to wear neutrals in the summer my two favorite picks were “I’m Kind of a Big Deal” and “Lavish Life”. Hmmm….my life definitely isn’t lavish, but I do like having a few nice things! I’ve had “I’m Kind of a Big Deal” on my nails now for a few days, and it hasn’t started to chip which normally when I get a regular manicure it starts chipping after a day or two. If you like these colors check out all the others here, and leave a comment below sharing your favorites!

Beauty Buy: Curls that Last

Tony and Guy forming gelI have a lot of hair…I mean a LOT. Not to mention it’s extremely fine and super straight. So when I curl it the curls only last about a day (usually less). There are several hair products out there that are great for holding curl, but I hate using several products in my hair especially when they leave a sticky film. I still want to be able to run my fingers through my hair whenever I do use product. I found Toni&Guy’s Forming Spray Gel which specifically states on the bottle it’s ‘feather-light and non-sticky’. Guess what…it really is! The first time I used it my curls lasted for almost two days, and the best thing was my hair felt like I hadn’t used any product at all.
